This work represents traditional Itelmen guardian – the house keeper that was cut out of the wood to be hung up at the entrance of the Itemen home. It is mean to protect the household from the troubles, fires, illnesses, etc. The fire inside this symbol represents the home hearth that keeps the home warm and heart represents a family that lives in harmony with each other and the world.
